Your PEMT gene is responsible for making phosphatidylcholine which helps support a healthy cell membrane. If you have a deficiency, your cell membranes will be stiff and won’t talk to each other, leading to chronic fatigue, fatty liver or high triglycerides. If you’re born with a genetic mutation in your PEMT, you need dietary sources to make up for the deficiency.

Dietary sources of choline are primarily meat, liver and eggs. Vegetarians need to limit refined carbohydrates and  maximize their sources of phosphatidylcholine with broccoli, spinach, beans, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and if possible, eggs and fish.
