Let’s talk about brain inflammation—also called neuroinflammation. This can show up as brain fog, memory issues, difficulty concentrating, or even more serious neurodegenerative conditions over time.

Neuroinflammation can be triggered by many things: high blood sugar, hormonal decline (like low estrogen), toxic exposures such as mold, and chronic infections like Lyme disease. Even inflammation elsewhere in the body can cross the blood-brain barrier and increase pain signals in the brain. If you’ve had high cholesterol or blocked arteries, this can reduce oxygen to the brain, worsening the problem.

But here’s the good news: the brain can heal. Thanks to neuroplasticity, your brain can rewire itself—but it needs the right nutrients and support. Some of my favorite tools include choline (found in eggs and seeds), methylated folate, and healing foods like beets to repair blood vessels. Oxygen matters too—make sure you’re getting deep, restorative sleep and check for sleep apnea if needed. Movement helps as well, as do mental exercises like puzzles or apps like Brain HQ.

And if you’re looking for extra supplement support, I often recommend Neuro Renew from Designs for Health.
