Let’s talk covid-19 vaccine. In a previous video, I explained the mRNA technology behind it—how it produces a strong immune response, is easier to manufacture, and more adaptable.
In the U.S., the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are currently available. The AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines were discontinued after rare cases of blood clots were reported.
The mRNA COVID-19 vaccines work by targeting ACE2 receptors—introducing a spike protein that teaches your immune system to recognize and fight the virus. Because the response is so robust, some people feel under the weather for a day or two, with swollen lymph nodes or fatigue. That’s just your immune system doing its job.
Immunity from the vaccine fades over time, which is why boosters have been recommended. But today’s COVID strains are far less severe. Unless you’re over 75 or immunocompromised, I don’t think most people need an annual booster.
